Charles Kupchella has led strategic planning efforts at four different institutions as well as led or served on dozens of committees that have conducted successful searches for senior academic positions.
Dr. Kupchella is president emeritus of The University of North Dakota, where he served as president for nine years. He has been active in professional and civic organizations throughout his career. Among the former, he served as a consultant-reviewer for the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and as a reviewer for such agencies as the National Science Foundation, The National Institutes of Health, and the American Cancer Society. He too has had extensive international experience, participating in educational missions and/or academic conferences throughout the world.
Dr. Kupchella received a Ph.D. in physiology from St. Bonaventure University – where he was an NDEA Fellow – and a B.S.Ed. in biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
